September 17, 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET. Join the Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery for a critical training session on planning for natural disaster debris using EPA’s online Pre-incident All-Hazards Waste Management Planning Tool (AHWMPT). As the changing climate intensifies, communities are increasingly at risk of experiencing natural disasters that generate significant amounts of debris and waste. Having a pre-incident waste management plan (WMP) in place can greatly enhance a community’s ability to recover more quickly and cost-effectively, making them more resilient to the impacts of climate change. This training will cover the challenges of disaster debris management and demonstrate how the AHWMPT can assist Tribes in developing WMPs for natural disasters. Immediately following the training, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm ET, we invite participants to stay online for a hands-on working session. During this time, interested participants can begin developing their own WMP with the AHWMPT, with guidance and support from EPA staff. To make the most of this session, it is recommended that participants register for the AHWMPT in advance of the training.
